  • In this text Paul gave instructions to Timothy, a young minister, regarding the proper Christian perspective of money. The primary theme is contentment: we should be satisfied with whatever we have rather than always being greedy for more. This attitude requires much discipline in our materialistic age since many people’s greatest priority in life is the accumulation of more possessions. This is a common theme in the New Testament due to prevalence of materialism. All Christians need to learn to be content regardless of the circumstances of life.
