WHAT DOES PATIENCE MEAN?
Makrothumia (Ancient Greek).
• Endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance.
• Forbearance, long-suffering, slow to avenge

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
Job.
• Job had it all and lost it all in almost an instant. (Job 1:13-22)
• In all of this, Job never sinned but rather he showed incredible patience.
Jesus…with those who follow him.
• Who could over-look the patience that it must have taken for him to suffer the short-comings of His own trusted Apostles?
Jesus…with those who killed him.
• Luke 23:34 tells about Jesus on the cross asking forgiveness for the very people responsible for killing him.

PATIENCE DISPLAYED IN US
Be Patient with non-believers.
• Christ tells us in Matthew 5 to “turn the other cheek” to the one who slaps you, which is an act of insult. Do not retaliate in kind, and if someone persecutes you, we are commanded in Romans 12:14 to “bless them.”
Be Patient with Believers.
• Patience is vital when dealing with those inside the family of God. Sometimes we have more tolerance for the deeds of an unbeliever than we do for those who are our brothers. We, as Christians, are known to shoot our own wounded.
